You Make Mine, I make Yours was a collaborative printmaking exhibition which took place in 2016 in the CIT Wandesford Quay Gallery Cork & Ratamo Galleria, JyvasKyla, Finland. The project was generously supported by Culture Ireland.

Plan D – digital print

Each of the four participating Irish artists produced a plan, or brief, consisting of images, objects or instructions which was sent to be interpreted and made by one of the Finnish artists. In return four plans arrived from Finland to be worked on by the Cork-based artists. Other than the requirement that the works would have a printmaking aspect, no other conditions or restrictions were put in place.

You Make Mine, I Make Yours – artists’ plans

Press release for You Make Mine, I make Yours:

A collaborative project between contemporary printmakers based in Finland and Ireland, You Make Mine/ I Make Yours attempts to explore the creative process, questioning the progression from an initial concept to its final realisation. Preliminary proposals of work were exchanged; an engine cranked but with no set product, exposed sketches became blueprints to be constructed.

Within the creative mind, a new idea is akin to an engine, the cogs are cranked and turn, driven by the individual’s idiosyncratic assembly processes. But what if the operators are switched; the keys have been turned but the driver’s chair is now occupied by another?

Tuomas Hallivuo, Naoji Ishiyama, Aino Kaarina, Jyrki Markkanen of the Ratamo Centre for Printmaking and Photography, Finland have collaborated with Johnny Bugler, Conall Cary, Dominic Fee and Fiona Kelly of Cork Printmakers, Ireland.
